The 49th Mey Highland Games to be held under the patronage of His Royal Highness The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay on Saturday, 3rd August 2019 at the show-ground in John O'Groats, Caithness.
The Games seeks to promote the culture of Caithness, a destination, by encouraging visitors to the Mey Games, supporting local businesses and charities and promoting the participation of young people in traditional highland games heavy events, highland dancing and piping competitions.
The promotion of equality and diversity by holding the Mey Games provides an inclusive platform for all incorporating para-athletes and those injured as a result of military service and where possible taking the games on tour nationally and internationally provides a Caithness cultural experience and access for all to adaptive Highland Sports.
To support those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage in Caithness by allocating grants from the organisations surpluses.
Entry to all competitions is open to everyone no matter which country you come from; simply complete the on-line registration or on the day, go to the Clerk of the event you are interested in when it is called. If you do not wish to compete just come and watch, and maybe meet up with old friends or make new ones.
The Mey Highland Games offers a fantastic day including Scottish Pipe Band, Solo Piping, Highland Dancers, adaptive Heavy Events, Field and Track Events, Tug O'War, The Ardblair Stones, the Duncansby 10k run and plenty of events for children and those not feeling too sporty.
The 2019 Games will include competing athletes from up to 10 countries, and we especially welcome our participating adaptive athletes from Help For Heroes, Uncle Sam's Highlanders and via the Invictus Games Foundation. The Games will also showcase a variety of Trade Stands with Scotland’s very best local food, drink, arts, crafts and charities.
